About Shoppers Drug Mart Beauty Galas

  • This is the fifth year Shoppers Drug Mart LOVE.YOU. has launched the National Beauty Galas in support of women’s health. The Beauty Gala is a one day event to help raise funds for The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation in Ontario, British Columbia and Yukon; Beauty Gives Back in Alberta, Atlantic and Prairies and finally, Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation in Quebec.
  • In 2015 the national Galas raised over $1.7 million dollars in support of women’s health. This year, a summer gala will be introduced, resulting in three galas total, to further support women’s health throughout Canada.
  • As a result of the funds raised through the Beauty Galas, traveling mammography units for breast cancer screening in communities across BC is now possible; In Ontario, funds support the development of an online decision-aid tool to help women make an informed and empowered decision about breast screening; Alberta, Atlantic and Prairies support Beauty Gives Back, the home of the Look Good Feel Better program and charitable foundation of Canada’s beauty industry; and in Quebec, funds support women who face financial difficulties while they undergo treatment for breast cancer.
  • The Beauty Galas give customers a chance to personally indulge and positively impact the health of women.
  • Event activities including, skin analysis and makeup applications as well as special draws and raffles. Tickets are available for $10 and can be purchased at your local Shoppers Drug Mart. Half ($5) of each ticket sold will be donated to the charity supported, while the remaining $5 is redeemable on any cosmetic purchase made at Shoppers Drug Mart during the event.
  • The Shoppers LOVE. YOU. portfolio gathers resources and expertise from supported partners at leading women’s health organizations across Canada helping women stay focused on making their own health a priority.

Look Good Feel Better was created from a belief that if a woman with cancer can be helped to look good, chances are she will feel better, her spirits will be lifted and she’ll be empowered to face her illness with greater confidence. Canada’s first-ever Beauty TIP Workshop store at the newly expanded Yorkdale Shopping Centre location in Toronto opens on Friday, August 19th. The new Sephora Yorkdale is one of four stores in North America to feature the visionary ‘Teach, Inspire, Play’ concept, where digital technology and services fuse, culminating in a truly revolutionary shopping experience for modern day beauty enthusiasts of all ages together.

The new concept store will be a destination in the GTA with an endless paradise of beauty options, including a customized array of one-of-a-kind services and tutorials. Every visit to the store will be transformed into an elevated and personalized experience encouraging clients to Beauty Together through an interactive approach to beauty that is unlike any other shopping experience in Canada today.

At the heart of the new store concept is the BEAUTY TIP WORKSHOP that brings the Teach, Inspire, and Play approach to life. The Workshop consists of an area capable of accommodating up to 10 clients to learn via group beauty classes led by Sephora experts, gain self-guided access to tutorials using iPad stations, or to gather inspiration from The Beauty Board, Sephora’s own shop-able gallery that showcases user-generated content via a large digital screen. Each station is equipped with its own product, iPad, USB port and WiFi, so clients can play, browse and share looks on the digital screen and online, right from their seat.

The store also features an expanded Beauty Studio offering complimentary makeovers with larger stations for even more access to Sephora’s in-store services and expertise. The new set-up includes 12 beauty studio seats, and Sephora + Pantone Color IQ touchscreens, with updated IQ technology including foundation, lip colour and concealer for a scientifically precise match to complement your skin tone, drawn from Sephora’s selection of 1,900+ foundations, 400 concealers and 3,500 lip shades, and new mirror and canopy lighting fixtures for maximum light exposure.

Coming this September! The Skincare Studio is offering one-on-one skincare consultations, complete with a sink station and four well-lit seating areas to facilitate the new Mini Facial service. Incorporated into The Skincare Studio is a unique touchscreen that offers instant access to Sephora’s exclusive Skincare IQ diagnostic, helping clients determine the best products based on their skin concerns and demystifying the wide range of skincare solutions Sephora offers.

With all this warm weather we’ve had lately, isn’t it time to celebrate? On August 12th, the fine folks at Shopper’s Drug Mart are throwing an in-story Summer Beauty Gala to celebrate spring! In stores across the country, gala guests will enjoy complementary makeovers, skincare consultations, free samples, refreshments and snacks. How great is that?

Even better – funds raised go to a good cause! What’s better than shopping for a good cause (other than your own wardrobe!). Funds raised at locations in the Prairies and Atlantic Canada will benefit Beauty Gives Back, a charitable initiative of the Canadian beauty industry, dedicated to helping women beat the Cancer Blues.

Look Good Feel Better is Canada’s only charitable cancer program dedicated to empowering women to manage the effects that cancer and its treatment can have on their appearance. If you’re an avid followers of beauty and fashion bloggers, you’ve probably seen it on Instagram. The products from the new Estee Edit collection by Estee Lauder have been everywhere! When I first saw the social media buzz I was torn – would it live up to the hype or would the collection fall flat?

The Estee Edit was created by beauty giant Estee Lauder in collaboration with Sephora. “Estée Lauder approached Sephora with this concept…to partner to launch a brand created with a whole new approach to the younger, modern consumer,” said Artemis Patrick, senior vice president of merchandising at Sephora. “We worked closely with the Lauder team on all aspects. This is a great brand to target today’s Sephora client and great way for Estée Lauder to introduce a brand to the younger consumer.”

I decided to try out the products for myself!

The pore stick was one of my favorites. Unfortunately, I’ve always had massive pores, so primer and tinted moisturizer have always been a key part of my beauty regime. The Estee Edit pore vanishing stick was a god-send for people like me! It deletes your pores and leaves your skin with a lovely, non-greasy, matte finish. Plus, it’s not silicone based.

Ugh, I was hesitant to write about the lipstick. I’m a dedicated Tom Ford user and always have been! Coming off in eighteen shades from berry to blue, the lipstick glides on like a dream. It stays for HOURS too! After applying it at 9am, it was still looking as bright as ever at 3.

The cover stars for the campaign are Kendall Jenner and Irene Kim. Kendall needs no introduction – she’s one of the youngest of the Kardashian clan and model of the moment. This past season alone she’s walked for brands from Chanel to Gucci to Tommy Hilfiger. Irene Kim is one of the biggest beauty bloggers in the biz.

That’s why I was so excited to hear about CF Fairview’s great new event! Every Thursday night in April, CF Fairview will be throwing a Girls Night Shopping Event! They’re combining fashion, beauty, cuisine, and of course great company to bring you a night full of laughter, fun, and of course – pampering! This night is a great excuse to bring your friends and family together for an exclusive shopping event. Kelly Vieira, the General Manager of the CF Fairview Mall says “We’ve created an exclusive Lounge to thank our customers for their patronage while giving shoppers a place to relax and be pampered.”

They’ve set up an exclusive lounge on the top floor of the shopping centre, adjacent to Sears, which will be full of exclusive promotions and services courtesy participating fashion and beauty retailers, as well as libations. Customers who spend a minimum of $100 at select CF Fairview mall stores every Thursday evening in April from 5 to 9 will receive a custom reusable shopping bag granting exclusive access to the private lounge. There will be delicious food and beverages available, as well as fabulous beauty services. On display will be the latest in fashion and beauty trends. Over thirty different stores from the CF family will be participating, so there’s a little something for everyone! To pick up your bag, stop by one of the 36 participating retailers and spend a minimum of $100 on any items of your choice.

The bonus? There’s a charitable aspect to the night as well. If you fill and return the shopping bag with gently used clothing, you will receive a $10 CF SHOP! Card. All clothing  donations go to the incredible One More Wear Foundation. Make your way to the Girls Night Lounge or the Guest Services desk by Entrance 4 to donate your gently used clothing. Every time you return a bag you are eligible for a $10 CF SHOP! Gift card redeemable at any retailer in the complex.

One More Wear foundation is a great Toronto-based non-profit organization looks to improve the lives of GTA young and women. The foundation is youth-run, and provides young men and women across the GTA with clothing so they can look the sharpest for job interviews or when they’re out with their friends. They will be collecting donations all throughout Thursdays April in partnership with CF Fairview. They will be accepting men and women’s clothing including pants, dresses, shirts, sweaters, shoes, bags, and belts. By providing quality clothing to youth in need, The One More Wear Foundation is enhancing the opportunities available to them, delivering the confidence to pursue their life’s goals – academic, social, career-driven, and otherwise.

On November 7th, Shoppers Drug Mart held a Beauty Gala at select stores nationwide.

For the cost of $10 per ticket, guests were able to visit local Shoppers Drug Mart stores to enjoy things like complimentary makeovers, skincare consultations, free samples, refreshments and snacks. Tickets to the event were limited but sold well; stores experienced high traffic and lots of happy ladies.

Gala guests were greeted with a swag bag filled with fabulous goodies like fragrance, makeup and skincare product samples. Prior to leaving, we were able to use out ticket to redeem $5 off of any Shoppers Drug Mart purchase. Between ladies filled with confidence and bags filled with fun new product, the success of the event looked almost as great as the #SDMBeautyGala guests.

From each ticket sold by participating stores in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI and Newfoundland, $5 went to Beauty Gives Back; a registered charity dedicated to making women ‘feel human again in the face of the ravages of cancer and its treatment. We dedicate ourselves to treating the emotional fallout from cancer. Using the sum total of our knowledge, experience, expertise and resources, we do what women trust and rely on us to do – to make them feel human again in the face of the ravages of cancer and its treatment. In doing so, we help restore their confidence, and the confidence of those around them, to continue fighting with conviction and living with dignity.
