Do you have Winter Tires?

Do you have WINTER Tires?

Well if you live in Canada, then I think snow tires are a must!  Being safe on the road with snow and ice can make driving challenging. After hearing all about the bad winter the weather men have been forecasting,  I decided it was time to get winter tires. I headed off to Canadian Tire to get my tires. They do have the word “tire” in their name, so they must know a thing or two about tires. They have also been selling tires since 1923!

The Difference Between All Season and Winter Tires

First, I think I should tell you the difference between tires. I used to think that my all season tires were good enough in the snow until I was educated during the Canadian Tire #CanadasGarage Twitter Party.

All Season Tires

As the name suggests, all season tires are designed to provide safe driving over a wide range of conditions. The advantage to all season tires is that they can remain on your vehicle spring, summer and fall, but they may not be suitable in cold temperatures or snowy weather. They also typically provide a quieter ride than winter tires.

Winter Tires

These tires use special compounds to improve your traction, stopping and handling whenever the thermometer dips below 7°C/45°F. A winter tire is marked with the mountain/snowflake symbol. Although all weather tires are good in many conditions, they don’t provide the same grip and control that winter tires can in cold or snowy weather.

Watch this video to find out the difference between all season and winter tires.

Why buy winter tires from canadian Tire?

Canadian Tire puts all of their tires through rigorous testing, so you can make the most informed decision possible.

This is how Canadian Tire tests tires in the snow.

Here is how Canadian Tire tests tires on ice.
