April is #DaffodilMonth

Have you been seeing lots of beautiful yellow flowers pinned to the lapels of passersby lately?  That’s because April is Daffodil Month! All April, Loblaws is selling fresh daffodils across Ontario to support those people who live with Cancer.

I don’t think anyone hasn’t known someone who has been touched by cancer. Unfortunately, cancer is a huge evil that many of us know too well. But the good thing is, there is hope. Scientists are doing amazing research to get us closer to the cure, and there are so many incredible volunteers helping sufferers through the disease. There are so many wonderful resources out there, from wig workshops to family information centres.

Did you know that because of Canada’s growing and aging population, cancer cases will jump up by 40% by 2030? That’s one of the many reasons it’s so important to support such a great cause. The Canadian Cancer Society provides vital services to cancer sufferers and their families. Donations go towards funding life-saving research, and incredibly important support services like counseling. With our help, fewer people will have to suffer through the ravages of the disease.

Buying and wearing Daffodil pins will support the society both financially, and show people who suffer from the disease that they do not have to face the disease alone.

“Loblaw’s generous support for Daffodil Month is especially important this year,” explains Susan Drodge, Director of Corporate Partnerships for the Canadian Cancer Society in Ontario. “As a charity, we must do whatever it takes to ensure we can meet the expected jump in demand for our support services over the next 15 years. It is comforting to have a partner like Loblaw in our corner.”

Stop by your local Loblaws, Zehrs, Valu-mart, Real Canadian Superstore and Your Independent Grocer locations across the province to pick up your daffodils! All locations will be selling daffodil pins, as well as fresh-cut and potted daffodils. For every potted or fresh-cut daffodil sold, the retailer will donate $2 to the great cause.

To date, the Canadian Cancer Society and Loblaws have raised over $221,000 through this phenomenal collaboration.

Fresh cut daffodils start at $4.99, and potted daffodils are $5.99. Pick yours up today!
